With the cups, races, bearings, and dust shields placed in
the neck, we quickly realize that in order to use the top trees, we will need a
spacer between it and the top bearing. So, we go to work cutting one out of
stainless.

Below the spacer can be seen in place between the trees and the bearing. In
addition, we get a preview of the Flanders dog bones and the raw stainless
tubing that we will eventually turn into handlebars. The raw 1” fork stem shown
will get its 24 TPI threads (to accept the top nut) next time.

Next time (Chapter V), we punch the springer build into excess overdrive and get
started (again) on the stainless steel handlebars that I promised for this
chapter (sorry, but the first set ended up as a source of frustration release).

Muchos Gracias: Boo for being so understanding about the holiday, Dave “Big Ox”
Glover for helpin’ a brother out in a major jam.

That's all for this installment - more coming soon now that the
Holidays are over and it's still too cold and funky out on the
Colorado roads to do any serious riding.
