Editors Note: People send me all kindsa great and strange pictures of the stuff they're working on and what they think makes up the perfect chopper. I figured it was only fair to share this stuff with everybody. If you want us to publish a pix of your project or finished scoot, send 'em HERE, if you don't want 'em published, don't send 'em (duh...)

I'll give this a shot. I'm hoping you feel as I do . That it doen't matter what you start with, it's how you finish.
When I decided to build a bike I started looking for a Harley. But it didn't take long to figure out that by the time I was done I would be in the bike it would cost me well over $10,000. Being a person who believes in the frase "bang for the buck" I decided to start with something else.

It had to be pleniful, inexpensive, well maintaned, and over 1000cc. The Honda GL GoldWing fit the bill but could I do anything with it. "I love a challange".

Starting with a '80 GL 1100 perchased for $1400.00 The project began. I set on a -bar hopper-look. Which is a long way from the land yaht i stared with.

The frame is back halfed to get the seating position down to 24". Modified flat side tanks and Harley front fender are used. The front end is raked another 7degreas. Exhaust is part GoldWing part Bassett marine headers. Stock rear fender. A VW front turn signal is used as the tail light and the rear fender is from the Wing. Drag bars, repro Harley seat, and Honda Hurricane foot pegs round out the package.

Because all the factory suspension points and air ride are retained. The bike is a pleasure to ride. We just got back froma 1400 mile road trip. No bad back. No stiff neck. And no sore butt! Not bad for a total investment of $3750.00.
Keep in mind that all work was done in house. But for this minute amount of money the bike turns heads, stops traffic, and wins at shows. Ok it's metric but it's smooth, dependible, and fast.

All patrs are available in kit form.

I'll help ya sell it, but heed this advice: sell the house, the car, the dog - hell, sell ANYTHING, but for God's sake man, don't sell the bike.
