Boy
that's a pretty baby !!!!!
This is me looking thru the frame getting ready to perform the
drilling for the oil return hole into the (new) case cylinder
wall. The panhead return for oil comes from the heads into the
cylinder port and into the case for an inch or so and then into
the case housing. This is the newest porting for the later
panheads. The 48 pan had a slightly different path for the
oiling to the head, and the oil was forced upward into the heads
thru a small port that proved problematic with heat. Therefore
the newer panheads had external oiling to the heads and this
worked much better. This one has the external oiling.

Here dad (John Fontenot), is preparing the cam area to accept
the new Anderws cam shaft. We checked the cam spacing and
inserted the necessary shim stock to take up the space... this
is very important and if the cam shaft is in a bind, it can ruin
a new motor, the brass bushings must be honed to fit. Don't
forget the cam cover must have the gasket on it also to get the
proper cam shim spacing right...

Here i am getting the cam cover cleaned and ready to fit it with
the cam and other goodies....
