| It was one piece, now
it's two! Air tools rock. |

| Whoa, Jesse's got
nothing on this custom job! |

| Gleaming in the
afternoon sunlight in the garage - you can almost read
the words "ACE". |

| Underside view of
this custom part soon to be copied by builders all over
the world. Warren Fuller part patent #6792568. |

| Kinda looks like a
chopper instead of a buncha parts in a pile. |

Now, turning to the transmission
- the trans now sits on a mounting plate that's about an eighth
of an inch thick - so the fifth bolt needs to have a similar
shim. Rather than just use a really thick washer (which would've
worked just fine) I decided to create a place to mount the rear
brake T (where the line breaks and allows for a pressure switch
to be attached) and a really cool engine crankcase breather I
picked up at one of those auctions.
I went to one of the premiere specialty, custom, high-end metal
fitment shops in Denver (Ace Hardware) and bumped around until I
came up with this chunk of zinc that was supposed to be used for
mending fences and barn doors. It was the perfect width for my
application and already had a buncha mounting holes in it -
plus, as an added bonus - it had the word "ACE" stamped in it,
so everyone would know I got my fabricating metals from the
finest of upscale parts providers.
A couple of whacks with the cutter and the high speed drill to
round out the holes a bit and we were good to go. The brake T
will mount right on the bar to the right of the trans and then
all I have to do is fabricate ea little angle bracket to bolt
the breather onto my "dual purpose trans spacer and accessories
mounting bar" (Custom Chrome part number 123456 - $259).
Anyway - one last story and I'll shut it down.
Wendy comes out to the garage, takes one look at the manifold
and says "You'll never be able to reach the brake, that huge
carb will be in the way when you bolt it on" How dare she? How
could she possibly think that a master fabricator like myself
would allow this sort of miscalculation to take place? Hey, I've
watched a whole buncha shows on the Discovery Channel - I know
how to do this stuff.
After I calmed down from having my masterful skills insulted
(and she was outta the garage) I did a test bolt-on of the carb.
So, does anybody know where I can buy a four inch brake pedal
extension for a set a forward controls?
More as it develops. My goal is to be fired up by spring, kinks
worked out through the summer and then hopefully I'll enter this
in the Horse Backstreet Choppers Show in Cottonwood, Arizona
next October. We'll see, they may not allow a bike with (GASP!)
turn signals!
